Ryan Baumgartner

Family Law Attorney

Ryan is an experienced and dedicated trial attorney who has devoted his legal career to family law. Known for his strategic approach and steady presence, Ryan guides clients with clarity and compassion. His deep understanding of family law comes not just from years of legal experience, but also from growing up with complex family dynamics, divorces, emotional uncertainty, and the fear of the unknown in difficult times. That personal perspective helps him truly relate to what his clients are going through. Known for his approachable style and down-to-earth communication, Ryan offers steady guidance and strong advocacy to help clients navigate challenges.

Originally from Fargo, North Dakota, Ryan earned his B.A. in Legal Studies with an emphasis in Economics from Minnesota State University Moorhead, and his Juris Doctor from Drake University Law School in Des Moines, Iowa.

Before relocating to Arizona, Ryan spent nearly twelve years practicing family law in Iowa. He was mentored by two nationally and highly respected partners, both Fellows of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), including a past President of the organization. Under their mentorship, Ryan developed deep expertise in complex legal strategy, ethical advocacy, and principled representation that are foundations that continue to guide his practice today.

During his time in Iowa, Ryan handled a wide range of high-stakes family law matters, including high-asset property division, business valuations, contentious custody disputes, paternity cases, and interstate jurisdiction issues under the UCCJEA and UIFSA. He also successfully argued multiple appeals, further honing his skills in legal analysis and persuasive advocacy.

His professional involvement included memberships in the Polk County Bar Association (Family Law Committee), the Iowa State Bar (Family & Juvenile Law Section), the American Bar Association (Family Law Section), the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC), and the Iowa Association for Justice.

Now in Arizona, Ryan remains active in the family law community as a member of the State Bar of Arizona (Family Law Section), the Maricopa County Bar Association (Family Law Section), and the Arizona Chapter of the AFCC.

Though he has logged countless hours in the courtroom, Ryan’s greatest strength lies in the meticulous preparation and strategic planning that begin from day one. Whether resolving cases through negotiation, mediation, or litigation, he is a determined and disciplined advocate who always puts his clients’ best interests first.

Outside of the office, Ryan enjoys life with his wife and their three daughters. Together, they’re on a mission to visit 18 countries in 18 years, one for each year of each daughter’s childhood. An avid outdoorsman and passionate hunting dog handler, Ryan has contributed to the Pheasants Forever Journal and has been published in the Boykin Spaniel Society Magazine. He competes in hunting tests with his Irish Setter and is a member of several conservation and sporting organizations, including Quail Forever, the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association, and the Boykin Spaniel Society.
