Andrea Banks

Family Law Attorney

Andrea Banks is a family law associate with Cantor Law Group. She has practiced in Phoenix, Arizona, and in all surrounding counties in the State of Arizona for nearly sixteen (16) years. As an Arizona Native, Andrea has a heart of service. Born in Phoenix, but primarily raised in Flagstaff, she understands the needs of people from many different walks of life, which allows her to represent clients with genuine passion and concern. Andrea always strives to be a reliable and committed advocate to her clients during some of the most difficult times of their lives. Andrea will work tirelessly to be responsive, thorough, and make legal decisions with reason and care.

Andrea received her undergraduate degree in Broadcasting Journalism from the University of Arizona (Bear Down!) and her Master’s degree from Northern Arizona University in English (emphasis in education). She went on to receive her law degree in Virginia, and had the opportunity to spend her summers in the Washington D.C. area as a law intern in conjunction with Georgetown Law. She was the President of her Student Bar Association, and served on several community committees, continuing her long pattern of leadership and service for the betterment of others.

After returning to Arizona in 2009, Andrea began her career as an Administrative Law Judge presiding and deciding unemployment appeals, honing her craft of drafting poignant and expressive legal decisions. Andrea then transitioned to the Attorney General’s Office where she handled hundreds of trials, mediations, and court hearings as an Assistant Attorney General representing the Department of Child Safety. After her time with the state, she transitioned to Maricopa County Legal Advocate Office where she represented children in Juvenile Court, who had been removed as part of a Department of Child Safety cases. She is very comfortable and confident in the courtroom, providing skilled and knowledgeable representation for her clients in that setting. Her comfortability and experience in the courtroom gives her a great advantage over other attorneys in this field, which results in better outcomes and peace of mind for her clients.

Andrea has litigated a wide variety of cases throughout the State of Arizona including complex dissolution cases, legal separation, contested custody matters, relocations, jurisdictional disputes, domestic violence issues, child support, paternity, parenting time, legal decision-making (formerly “custody”), spousal maintenance, modifications, enforcement of existing orders, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, orders of protection, injunctions against harassment and annulments (specifically for immigration fraud). While Andrea enjoys tirelessly advocating for her clients in Court, she also understands the value of settlement and mediation to assist her clients in reaching amicable settlement agreements when possible and beneficial.

Andrea also handles all juvenile matters (including dependencies, adoptions, terminations, interventions and guardianships). She is unafraid of taking on contentious cases with the Department of Child Safety in Juvenile Court, which gives her a great advantage over most family law attorneys in Arizona, who only practice in Family Court. Andrea is a member of the Maricopa County Bar Association, the Arizona Women Lawyers Association as well as the State Bar of Arizona.

While she is not practicing law, Andrea enjoys spending time with her wonderful husband and Penny her dog, and enjoys traveling abroad, attending concerts, cooking homemade Italian food, playing the piano, and spending time with extended family.

Client Review
