Some of DM Cantor’s Estate and Probate Practice successes our Attorneys have achieved:

Estate Plan for D.C.M.: Created a complex estate plan, including charitable remainder unitrusts for an estate valued in excess of $20 million, significantly reducing estate taxes, providing a charitable deduction, and providing a stream of income for the client and his beneficiaries for life.

Estate Plan for Mr. and Mrs. S.: Created a sophisticated plan for an estate valued in excess of $35 million using generation skipping trusts, family limited partnership, and gifting plan, reducing taxes and providing a legacy for children and paying for the education of grandchildren.  

Estate Plan for Mr. and Mrs. Smith: Created a complex estate plan for a blended family that protected the wife when the husband died, and stepchildren attempted to claim marital assets that were intended to provide for the wife’s long-term care. 

Estate Plan for Mr. Y and Mrs. Y: Developed estate plan for husband and wife with modest estate to provide for simple administration and avoidance of probate, including revocable living trust, pour-over wills  with powers of attorney (financial, health care, and mental health care), and other ancillary documents, including warranty deed, disposition instructions, and HIPAA waivers/authorizations. 

In re Estate of G.C.: Successfully achieved appointment of client as personal representative over competing family members in contested probate matter, saved over $1 million for the estate by successfully defending creditor claims, and secured maximum inheritance for heirs.  

The D.L. Family Trust: Secured removal of successor trustee for a breach of fiduciary duties in contested trust administration, preventing dissipation of trust assets and protecting inheritance for beneficiaries. Achieved a favorable settlement by seeking the appointment of a trust protector, avoiding the need for costly litigation.

In re Guardianship and Conservatorship of R.K.: Won appointment as guardian and conservator for client’s mother in highly contested matter.  Protected the mother’s multimillion-dollar estate from predators and other family members, ensuring the mother’s end-of-life wishes were followed. Assisted the client in preparing and filing annual reports and accounts with the court. 

Double probate for Murder-Suicide: Represented mother as Personal Representative in a highly publicized incident in 2025 in which a mentally ill person killed his sister and then himself, providing expert legal guidance and compassion.
